Innovations
Saving time, maintaining product performance, and ensuring all specified products work together are key priorities for architects, and the driving force behind product development for Georgia-Pacific. The results of this innovation can be seen in the two newest products from Georgia-Pacific: DensDeck® StormX™ Prime Roof Board, and DensDefy™ Liquid Barrier, part of DensElement® Barrier System. As a bonus, the latest addition to the Four Dimensions of Durability in Roofing video series debuted at AIA Conference on Architecture 2022 and educated attendees about roof protection against wind uplift.
DensDeck StormX Prime Roof Board is a high-performance gypsum roof cover board designed to help prepare commercial rooftops to hold tough under the dangers of impact and puncture caused by very severe hail conditions. The product is classified for use in approved assemblies meeting FM Global’s Very Severe Hail Standard set in 2018.
DensDefy Liquid Barrier, part of DensElement Barrier System, is a fluid-applied air-resistive and water-resistive barrier. Once applied, it produces a seamless, durable membrane on exterior gypsum sheathing, wood sheathing, CMU, and concrete walls.
Four Dimensions of Durability in Roofing is a four-part video series demonstrating the value and key benefits of choosing a gypsum roof board to help protect against fire, wind, puncture, and hail. The video on wind uplift joins a video on fire risk mitigation as the first two in the series.
General contractors and architects trust the Georgia-Pacific name and history of product development, leadership, and innovation. Georgia-Pacific is a manufacturer of exterior sheathing and offers technical support to include jobsite observation reports upon request and application best practices and troubleshooting. All information from one source makes any issues easily solvable.
The Georgia-Pacific DensElement Barrier System integrates the gypsum core and the fiberglass mat to form a hydrophobic, monolithic surface that blocks bulk water, but allows vapor to pass through. The Georgia-Pacific DensElement Barrier System eliminates the need for building wrap, fluid-applied membranes, or peel-and-stick membranes. It’s faster to install and can be installed when it’s wet outside–saving time and labor. The all-in-one Georgia-Pacific DensElement Barrier system is finished with DensDefy Liquid Flashing to fill and seal joints, fasteners, openings, penetrations, and transitions. The Georgia-Pacific DensElement Barrier System is ABAA listed and WRB-AB approved and has a customized MasterSpec® specification 061656 Air and Water Resistive Sheathing Board.
