Extensions
Everyone in the commercial roofing industry has undoubtedly seen some odd things on a roof from time to time. Extending vent stacks during reroofing is a common practice, and sometimes they must be extended 24-inches or longer to meet local code, particularly in regions that get excessive snowfall.
However, rather than using no-hubs and balancing new pipes on top of existing vent stacks, which clearly will not survive in harsh weather conditions, contractors should extend vent stacks with Tubos® Pipe Extensions. Tubos Vent Pipe Extensions are the only product in the roofing industry that are designed to extend existing vent stacks, and come in standard sizes to accommodate two through five-inch cast iron or PVC/ABS vent stacks.
The secret to nearly two decades of growth and success is the six-inch internal spice sleeve that fits snugly down the inside of the existing vent stack and allows the Tubos unit to sit properly on top of the vent stack, even if the stack is cracked or broken.

When insulation is added during a reroofing project to meet building code R-value requirements, the height of the vent stack over the roof is effectively shortened, and frequently takes the vent stack out of building or plumbing code compliance.
Tubos units are installed in four easy steps. Just measure, cut, seal, and flash and you’re done. Plus, each 28-inch-long unit can be cut and used to extend two pipes, and extensions can be up to 16-inches long. They are ideal for use where a tapered system is added, or a new lightweight insulating concrete deck is being poured. In addition, when you need to extend the vent stack more than 16-inches, you can simply cut the Tubos Vent Stack Extension and add another extension to the top, and you have a watertight extension that will not give in to harsh weather conditions.
